NBC’s American Ninja Warrior star, Flip Rodriguez, has been a proud partner of the Barbara Sinatra Children’s Center since 2020.

Flip began competing in Season 3 of American Ninja Warrior (2011), where he wore a mask during each competition until eventually removing it in 2016. At this time, Flip identified the mask as a symbol of the sexual abuse he had experienced at the hands of his own father. The mask has also been featured on the cover of his book, The Man Behind the Mask (2022), which details his story overcoming years of sexual abuse throughout his childhood. Flip has since donated his mask to BSCC’s art therapy exhibit, Overcame: Art of the Abused Child.

Now, as a proud partner of the Barbara Sinatra’s Children Center, Flip’s continued work is rooted in inspiring children across the globe to protect themselves and feel empowered. “One of my guiding principles in life is the saying ‘get comfortable being uncomfortable’,” says Rodriguez. “I’ve learned from my past, it’s the only way to grow and evolve, whether that’s from failure, obstacles, or overcoming trauma.”
